United States Visa Lottery Open from October 3 to December 2, 2007.

The annual U.S. Diversity Immigrant Visa Lottery is open for applicants this year from 19.00 Estonia time on Wednesday, October 3, 2007, until 19:00 on Sunday, December 2, 2007. This is an Internet-based lottery.   Entries are made on-line at www.dvlottery.state.gov.  There is no fee to enter.

Participants are encouraged to complete their lottery entry before the final week when the lottery website could be overloaded and subject to system delays.  All applicants who apply at any time during the open period have the same chance of being selected.

Entrants must have completed the equivalent of a U.S. high school education. Persons born in any of 20 high-immigration countries, including Russia, are generally not eligible for the Lottery, though exceptions apply (see website for details).

Again, there is no absolutely no fee to enter. Please be aware there are some organizations seeking fees that pose as official Diversity Visa Lottery websites.

Applicants selected in the Diversity Visa random drawing are notified by the Department of State, Kentucky Consular Center by letter -- not email -- and are provided instructions on how to proceed to the next step in the process. 

No other organization or company is authorized by the Department of State to notify Diversity Visa lottery applicants of their winning entry.
