American Citizen Registration

The Embassy urges all American citizens, even those visiting Estonia for a short time, to register with the Embassy’s Consular Section.  In the event of an emergency, the Embassy will provide information and other critical assistance to American citizens.  Registration is the only way to guarantee that the Embassy is aware of your presence in the country and is able to contact you and assist you in such circumstances.

American citizens may now register online at
https://travelregistration.state.gov/ibrs or visit the Embassy's Consular Section in person. Registration is for American citizens only.

The Embassy's primary means of communication with American citizens in Estonia during an emergency is our warden system. The warden system consists of American citizens who volunteer to disseminate information passed on from time to time by the Embassy to other American citizens in the country.  We also distribute this information directly via e-mail (or, in rare circumstances, via SMS text message) to any American citizen who asks to be included in our warden notification network by registering with us.  Please read the recent warden messages  sent by the Embassy to registered American citizens.

Please visit the
State Department's Web Page on Emergency Preparedness.  A little planning and preparation can be very helpful in an emergency situation.

Additionaly, we are looking for individuals who might be willing to help the American citizen community in the event of an emergency or a crisis. Anyone who has special knowledge, skills or materials, and who would be willing to assist during an emergency situation, please access the following link: Local American Citizen Skills Resources Survey.
