The U.S. Embassy's reaction to President Meri's statement

The Government of Estonia, through Eesti Energia, has undertaken obligations towards NRG Energy that are binding agreements. We understand that these agreements are in accordance with the Estonian Constitution and Estonian law. The United States Government expects the Estonian Government to honor fully the commitments made.
