General Carter F. Ham, Commanding General of U.S. Army Europe and Seventh Army, to Visit Estonia
General Carter F. Ham, Commanding General of United States Army Europe and Seventh Army, headquartered in Heidelberg, Germany, is scheduled to visit Estonia on November 4-5.
General Ham, a four-star general officer, has previously served as Director for Operations (J-3) at the Joint Staff from August 2007 to August 2008 and the Commanding General, U.S. 1st Infantry Division from August 2006 to August 2007. He assumed his current assignment on August 28, 2008.
General Ham will meet with Chief of Defense Lieutenant General Ants Laaneots, Commander of Estonian Land Forces Colonel Indrek Sirel and also with the Permanent Secretary of Estonian Ministry of Defense Riho Terras to discuss U.S.- Estonian military cooperation. The General will also visit Kuperjanov Battalion in Võru, the Tapa Garrison and view the Central Training Area. This is General Ham's first visit to Estonia since taking Command of USAREUR in August of last year.
In addition, three U.S. Army Black Hawk UH-60 transport helicopters will accompany General Ham to Estonia. The Black Hawk entered Army service in 1979 and provides air assault, general support, aero-medical evacuation, command and control and special operations support to combat and stability and support operations.

Members of the press are invited for a press tour to see the Black Hawk helicopters and talk to the pilots on Thursday, November 5. The press tour will take place from 10:00am to 11:00am at the Tallinn Airport VIP area.
A joint press conference will be given at 10.45 by General Ham, General Laaneots and Colonel Sirel at the Tallinn Airport VIP area.
