Press release: US Government Sponsors Clean Energy Conference in the Baltic States

On October 14-15, the US Department of Energy, with support from the US Embassy in Tallinn, will hold a conference designed to promote clean energy and energy efficiency in the Baltic region. The Baltic Clean and Green Energy Conference will include speeches by several of the region's Prime Ministers, Ministers and other top policy-makers from all three Baltic States.

Recognizing the importance of regional cooperation on Baltic renewable energy options, and in support of the EU Baltic Sea Strategy, key officials from Sweden and Finland will also make presentations.

Energy technology experts from Department of Energy labs in the US and top industry leaders from the US and Europe will lead a discussion on leading-edge clean energy technologies, country-specific opportunities for diversification of energy resources and energy efficiency, and the lessons learned in developing an atmosphere that encourages public-private clean energy partnerships.

The Obama Administration recognizes the importance of energy diversification and energy efficiency for all countries, and wishes to support those efforts in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. The US Department of Energy is proud to sponsor this important regional forum with the hope that participants from each country will be empowered to develop priorities and recommendations for building a clean energy future.

The US Department of Energy invites interested members of government, private industry and academia to attend this event. There is no fee to attend and information on registration is available online at http://kingent.eu/balticenergyconference
