Protocol of Exchange of Ratification: Bilateral Extradition and Mutual Legal Assistance Between the United States and Estonia

On April 7, Deputy Assistant Secretary Judith Garber and Estonian Ambassador Väino Reinart signed in Washington, DC, the Protocol of Exchange of Ratification on the Treaties of Bilateral Extradition and Mutual Legal Assistance.

These twin agreements between the U.S. and Estonia will allow police and prosecutors in both countries to employ state-of-the-art tools to cooperate more effectively to bring criminals to justice on both sides of the Atlantic.

The agreements will form part of an important network of similar agreements that the U.S. has reached with all the countries of the European Union. This exchange is among 27 that the U.S. will undertake with all EU member countries.

The agreements represent yet another facet of the vibrant relationship the United States enjoys with Estonia, one of our most dependable allies.
