On March 29, 2004, Estonia became a full member of NATO, along with Bulgaria, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia. In recent years, working with the Estonian government to ensure Estonia's preparedness for NATO membership has been one of the key goals of the U.S. Embassy in Tallinn.
