MAJOR GENERAL JOHN M. MCDUFFIE TO VISIT TALLINN

Major General John M. McDuffie of the U.S. Army at U.S. European Command (Germany), will visit Tallinn August 25-26 to review U.S. security assistance to Estonia. Major General McDuffie will visit Paldiski, the site of the recent joint training exercise "Baltic Challenge"; meet with officials from the Ministry of Defense and Estonian Defense forces; and will meet students who have participated in training courses under the U.S. International Military Education and Training program.

U.S. security assistance in Estonia includes funds for long- and short-term training, acquisition of military equipment, and donation of humanitarian assistance. Under the U.S. military humanitarian assistance program, in August 1997, four reconditioned Volkswagen vans were donated to four hospitals in Estonia for use as ambulances.
