U.S. Congressional Delegation to Visit Tallinn

A U.S. Congressional Delegation led by Representative Jim Kolbe, Chairman of the U.S. House of Representatives' Subcommittee on Foreign Operations, Export Financing, and Related Programs, will visit Estonia on August 24.

Chairman Kolbe, whose subcommittee is responsible for the funding of most U.S. foreign aid programs, including the U.S. Agency for International Development, the Peace Corps, and the North American Development Bank, is stopping in Estonia for a day-long visit before continuing on to Asia.

During his visit to Estonia Chairman Kolbe and three Congressional colleagues -- Fred Upton (R-Michigan), Brian Baird (D-Washington), and Ander Crenshaw (R-Florida) -- will meet with Prime Minister Andrus Ansip at Stenbock House to discuss bilateral relations.

While in Asia Chairman Kolbe will travel to Nepal, Bhutan, Thailand, and Mongolia. The delegation will study the effectiveness of U.S. foreign aid programs designed to promote education, health, and economic independence, meet with displaced persons, and engage in discussions with political leaders and representatives of civic, national, and international organizations.
