French Connection Movie Festival: "Le Cinéma Francais "The American Way"

Each day of the festival offers two screenings – an original French movie followed by a U.S. remake, all of which (except for "Algiers") have been updated and relocated to the United States. All French movies have English subtitles. A limited number of free tickets will be available for each film. The first films are scheduled to begin each evening at 7:30 pm and the second film will begin at approximately 9:30 pm (tickets will have exact starting times).

Pépé le Moko (1937), starring Jean Gabin and Mireille Balin (Pépé le Moko, a famous and dangerous criminal, hides himself during one of his escapes in Algiers, where he meets beautiful Gaby and falls in love.)

La bête humaine (1938), starring Jean Gabin and Simone Simon (Engine driver Lantier falls hopelessly in love to wife of the train station supervisor, who is tied to a murder that took place on the line of Saint-Lazare-Le Havre.)

A bout de souffle (1960), starring Jean-Paul Belmondo and Jean Seberg (A young French lawbreaker kills a policeman and tries to persuade a girl to hide with him in Italy.)

Boudu sauvé des eaux (1932), starring Michel Simon and Charles Granval (Homeless Boudu throws himself into the Seine; after being saved by a liberal bookshop keeper, he starts spreading anarchism.)
