Photo Exhibition Brings the American Baltic Diaspora to Life
On August 5, the National Library of Estonia in partnership with the U.S. Embassy in Tallinn opened an exhibition "Baltic-Americans of Washington State" in the National Library Gallery. The photo exhibition introduces the life stories of 31 members of the Baltic community and includes short narratives by the subjects of the photos discussing maintaining their Estonian, Latvian, or Lithuanian identities while integrating into the United States. The cooperation between Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian communities is held alive thanks to the support of University of Washington's Baltic Department. The exhibition is also presented by the University of Washington Libraries Special Collections.
The photo exhibition brings Baltic-Americans closer to the people who live here in Estonia providing them with an insight into the lives of the Baltic diasporas through emotional photos and intriguing stories.
