We’ll be here for Estonia. We will be here for Latvia. We will be here for Lithuania. You lost your independence once before. With NATO, you will never lose it again. – Barack Obama, Tallinn, September 3, 2014
The US President Barack Obama has arrived in the Estonian capital Tallinn on September 3, 2014.
On behalf of President Obama and the people of the United States, we congratulate the people of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania on the 25th anniversary of The Baltic Way.
President Obama will visit the Republic of Estonia in early September to further enhance the strong relations between the two countries, and to affirm America's commitment to our Baltic allies.
Thanks to Karen, thanks to Ivan. It’s great to be back at GMF. Karen, I miss you in government every day. But I know that you are bringing your energy and your vision and your creativity to an equally worthy institution, GMF. And it is a pleasure to be here for my first Transatlantic Trends since becoming Assistant Secretary.
THE PRESIDENT: My fellow Americans, tonight I want to speak to you about what the United States will do with our friends and allies to degrade and ultimately destroy the terrorist group known as ISIL.
PRESIDENT OBAMA: Thank you. (Applause.) Thank you so much. Hello, Estonia! Tere Eesti! Thank you, Oskar, for your wonderful introduction and for representing the talent and the energy and the optimism of today’s Estonia, especially its young people.
PRESIDENT ILVES: Good morning. To begin with, I’d like to welcome President Obama to Estonia. It is a genuine pleasure and an honor to receive you right before the NATO Summit. Your visit sends a strong message.
